On Wednesday, 22 April 2026, the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs (FMSDIGA) hosted the Nigeria Türkiye Business Council (NTBC) for a high-level meeting in the Permanent Secretary’s Conference Room, Abuja.

The delegation from the Türkiye Business Council, led by its Director General, Ms Uche Osoka, was received by the Permanent Secretary of FMSDIGA, the Director of Parastatals, Director of finance and Accounting FMSDIGA, Public Relations, and Deputy Director P&P. The engagement focused on collaboration opportunities in local governance, technology transfer, and technical expertise.

The DG NTBC emphasised the importance of establishing strong ties with the Ministry to enhance investment in Nigeria from Turkish businesses, while addressing challenges such as funding and system reforms.

NTBC proposed facilitating business linkages and frameworks that unlock sub-national economic opportunities by directly connecting Turkish companies to Nigeria’s grassroots levels.

A key emphasis was the need to focus on building the economy at the subnational level where 45% of Nigerians live.

The meeting reinforced the significance of maintaining ongoing engagements with Turkey, aiming to build a cooperation framework that supports grassroots implementation and strengthens Nigeria–Türkiye relations.

NTBC Partners with Turkish Airlines for World Golf Tournament 2026

Turkish Airlines and NTBC had their first joint event following their recent signing of a partnership MOU with the hosting of the Turkish Airlines amateur world golf tournament qualifier, held in Abuja, Nigeria on Saturday, 2nd May 2026 at TYB International Golf Resort and Country Club.

The winner of the tournament, Mr. Philip Kuma of the TYB golf resort and country club, will be joining other winners of the qualifiers played in 85 locations across the globe at Belek, Turkiye, in November 2026 for the finals.

The Abuja tournament was a high-level networking event hosted by the General Manager Turkish Air, Abuja, Mr. Akin Carkci, supported by the Chairman of the Nigeria-Turkiye Business Council, Hon. In furtherance of its mandate to advance economic diplomacy and strengthen bilateral cooperation, the Nigeria–Türkiye Business Council (NTBC) convened its first virtual trilateral engagement between the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) and Turkish Post (PTT) on Tuesday, 21 April 2026.

The engagement reinforces NTBC’s role in facilitating strategic public–private sector partnerships and reflects its commitment to translating bilateral relations into tangible, investment-driven outcomes, building on the momentum of the State Visit of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to Türkiye.

Discussions focused on key areas of collaboration, including logistics modernization, e-commerce integration, smart infrastructure, and financial services innovation.

NIPOST highlighted its ambition to position Nigeria as a gateway for West African e-commerce through expanded logistics capacity and infrastructure development. In response, PTT presented its advanced capabilities in e-commerce platforms and end-to-end logistics solutions, demonstrating readiness to support NIPOST’s transformation agenda.

Both parties expressed strong interest in advancing cooperation and agreed on immediate and structured next steps to ensure continuity and progress. NTBC Leads Strategic Agro-Trade Mission to Konya, Türkiye

The Director General of the Nigeria–Türkiye Business Council (NTBC), Ms. Uche Osoka recently undertook a special strategic, agriculture-focused trade mission to Konya, Türkiye, involving key Nigerian agribusiness players, Lingzhi Global Nigeria Limited and Yewa Rice Mill & Plantation Limited.

The mission featured participation in the Konya Agro Fair 2026, alongside targeted site visits to leading agricultural and coffee production facilities, providing firsthand insights into advanced farming, processing, and value chain systems.

This engagement was specifically organized for Lingzhi Global Nigeria Limited, a major aggregator and producer of coffee in Nigeria, and Yewa Rice Mill & Plantation Limited, a leading high-capacity rice mill and plantation operator, with the objective of exploring partnerships, technology transfer, and investment opportunities.

As a follow-up, NTBC will facilitate a return visit to Türkiye with a delegation from Lingzhi Global Nigeria Limited to participate in the upcoming Coffex Fair, as well as the Beauty, Cosmetics & Lifestyle Sector Trade Fair scheduled to take place in Istanbul in May 2026.

Strengthening Nigeria–Türkiye Trade Relations: Courtesy Visit to Kano State

As part of an ongoing multi-state strategic engagement across Kaduna, Jigawa, and Kano States, H. E. Mr. Mehmet Poroy, Türkiye Ambassador to Nigeria, accompanied by Hon. Dele Kelvin Oye Esq., Chairman of the Nigeria-Türkiye Business Council (NTBC), undertook a high-level courtesy visit to key stakeholders in Kano State to advance bilateral economic cooperation.

During the visit, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Kano, H. E. Alh. Abba Kabir Yusuf, alongside engagements with five Honourable Commissioners. The delegation also visited the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, where they were received by the President, Alh. Usman Hassan Darma, in the company of distinguished members of the Chamber.

Deliberations at KACCIMA focused on unlocking high-impact investment opportunities across strategic sectors, including agriculture, agro-processing, textiles, manufacturing, and commerce, areas in which Kano retains a strong comparative advantage as a historic commercial hub.

Discussions further explored pathways to strengthen private sector collaboration, promote export-oriented enterprises, and facilitate technology transfer and skills development between Nigerian and Turkish businesses.
